The Colonists User Suggestions
Create your own maps and scenarios which can be shared via files or played on Steam Workshop
Custom Maps / Islands-Able to make your own maps and be able to place mining shafts and such-Also able to make your own islands with different entry points for harbors-Save map/island to Steam Workshop for others to download and use
This would go as an extension to sandbox i think
This would add some great diversity if it can be implemented. To have the community to create maps would add a lot replayability.
Hands down if the game gets steam workshop the longevity will be improved and there will be way more content. The developer should include the ability to add maps, robot models, and buildings.
Not everyone has steam. Some games (e.g. Armello) after initial release on GoG completely abandoned GoG platform publishing updates on steam only, by which they pissed off all these players who paid for the game on GoG and cannot get the latest version any more.I would not rush adding Steam Workshop support because it's useless for a part of user base who pays the same amount of money as those who would be able to use it.
A way for players to make custom maps and share them (maybe over workshop, maybe through some in-game function)
Could be used for map variety while random generation is being worked on
Add an option where there would be (maybe) community made map with it's own objective where the maker itself must do the map and reach the best possible objective to get the objective approved for the map. Or maybe the maps must be approved by you devs before posted.
The objectives would be similar to campaign. Like, have medium monument before x year, defeat the enemy in x year, have a colony with x number of y, etc.
It might be hard to implement, but im sure there's a lot of people wo wo
Sandbox play will be improved with an infinite (or at least very large) selection of maps to play. But using procedural gen might result in a large percent of unplayable maps and... map fog means you would be very far into play before discovering that.
Adding a "map mode" for custom maps with the option to upload and download them allows for effectively infinite variety without getting horrible resource gen. (Plus, procedural gen is a very complex programming puzzle whereas making an intuit

The game is well polished, in general but so very low on content. Think The Settlers; a 25 year-old game has more buildings, more complex combat system, bigger relative maps (with the exception of the sandbox map, arguably), more scenarios/story, more in-depth production chains etc. This is shaping up to be a great spiritual successor but the content is far to low. I think workshop maps (ideally including objectives, not just sandbox) is of critical importance but so is more campaign missions.
